Old Business
The annual Membership dinner was held on 16 October, 2005 at the Sauk
Rapids VFW. Everyone at the meeting stated it was a good dinner.
Ralph J. will count the number of flags we currently display, along with
checking to see how many brackets need repair. He will then figure out
the cost of repairing the flags and poles. Ralph will report the amount at
the next Legion meeting.
The Cmdr's report on the Sartell Centennial Committee meeting was
delayed until the next meeting.
New Business:
Several ideas where brought up to aid in recruitment of new members.
Ken S. mentioned that the local paper, The Newsleader, could be
informed of our next event and take pictures. When Sartell residents see
the article in the paper, they could become new members.
Another idea is to give a general financial report at the membership dinner. This is the only time many of the members would be able to hear what the Legion has been doing over the last year.
A suggestion to bring in funds was brought up. We, The Legion, could ask
other organizations, that have Charitable Gambling, to donate funds to us
to help defray costs of items like the flags and poles. A letter written and
signed by the Cmdr could bring in enough funds to pay for new flags and
poles. Another idea would be to set up an informational table at next
years Fire Prevention event. This is held at the firehouse once a year.
Closing prayer read by the Chaplin Rolly W.
