Meeting called to order by Cmdr Paul at 7:00 PM at Paula's Cafe in Sartell.
Opening Prayer was read by Chuck H.
Last months (September's) minutes read by ADJ, John D.
Minutes corrected to state the new storage area was started on
Oct 1 instead of Nov 1. And that Robert K. put up new flags on the
East side of the bridge, because they were worn out.
Motion by Robert S. 2nd by Chuck H. The minutes were approved.
Finance Committee Report by Finance Officer Nick D.
All financial notes are in a separate report.
Motion to approve the Finance Officers report was made by Chuck H. and 2nd by Robert S. Approved
Guest:
The 6th District Commander, Mel Buesseler, paid a visit to our Legion meeting. He spoke about the need for volunteers at the National Cemetery at Ft. Ripley and about the Fall Dept Conference at Mankato, running from Oct 22 thru the 25th.
Membership rallies will be at Zimmerman Legion Post on Nov 1 and at
St. Augusta Post on Dec 6th. The 6th District membership is at 68%. At the
National Convention, the National Commander spoke about how each Legion
should work towards getting more local visibility. The National Commanders
annual visit to Minnesota will be in March, 2009.
The 6th District Commanders goal is to improve Building 51 at the St. Cloud
Veterans Administration Hospital. This is the area for Vets with Alzheimer’s.
Another item on the 6th District Commanders’ list was the Veterans’ Day
Parade, on November 9th will be at the St. Cloud VA. Please attend if possible.
Old Business:
Sartell American Legions’ Membership Dinner was held on Oct 12th at the
Sauk Rapids VFW. Only 50 people, Legion Members and spouses attended.
Those that did, stated it was another fine dinner.
New Business:
Flip M. checking with Coborn’s on dates available for the Legion to sell Brats, as a moneymaker, for the Legion will be reported at the next meeting.
The moving of the Legion’s property, from the old storage area to the new one, will be on 29 Oct. at 10:00 AM. Please come and help with the move.
The Legion is donating $50 to the St. Frances Xavier 6th grade class for their class project. We received a nice letter requesting this donation.
