Old Business

The ordering of Legion jackets and hats thru Charles H. was presented at the meeting. Charles reported that Winter Jackets will run around $63, Summer Jackets about $26, Vests will cost about $14. Anyone wishing to order should contact Charles. Ken S. brought up a new idea of wearing Polo type shirts instead of jackets or vests for Legion functions. The shirts cost a little more but wear much longer. He, Ken S., made several suggestions on what to order, the Legion body was very receptive. Costs of these shirts is a little over $30 each.

The Legion's Membership Dinner is set for 22 October, 2006. It will be at the Sauk Rapids VFW, Chicken and Ham will be served. A letter will be sent to all members.

New Business:

Flags will be raised on August 31 at 4:00 PM. Meet at the Storage area if you can help out.

Ken S. brought up a money making idea that will help both the Legion and the local Fire Department. A breakfast function where most of the work is done by an outside company. Only 6 members are needed to help out at the beginning and at the end. They will be serving Waffles. This would be at St. Francis Xavier Church in May. The requirements are a minimum of 300 tickets need to be pre-sold, at $7.00 per ticket. The split is roughly $3.00 to the outside company and $4.00 to be split between the Legion and Fire Department. The Cmdr made a motion to have Ken S. do further research on this project and report at the next meeting.

There is a proposal to raise the rates of Legion dues by both the State and National Departments. This would mean a rate increase at the local level also. This MIGHT come into effect on the 2008 Legion dues. More to follow.
