Meeting called to order by Cmdr Paul at 7:05 PM at Paula's Cafe in Sartell.

Opening Prayer was read by the 1st Vice, Snuffy.

Last months (May's) minutes read by Adj. John D.

Correction to minutes: Flags were raised by Snuffy and Flip.

Motion by Nick D. 2nd by Flip M. The minutes were approved.

Guest:

Mayor Tim O’Driscoll brought the small flags back to the Legion and gave an update on the Memorial Day Celebration. The Mayor also stated everyone he talked to enjoyed the Summerfest Parade. He also mentioned that the Sartell Lions Club would be dedicating the new Lions’ Park on Sunday, June 29th at 7:30 PM. Tim asked if the Legion would be interested in helping with the flag dedication? The CMDR stated the Sartell American Legion would be honored to do so, IF the Lion’s organization was okay with that. The Mayor will check with the Lion’s and get back to the CMDR. Tim presented the Memorial Day bill to the Legion, the Legion paid the bill ($81.81). Thanks to Coborns for donating all the rolls the Legion gave to those present at the Memorial Day Ceremony.

Motion to approve the Finance Officers report was made by Snuffy, 2nd by Flip M. Approved

Old Business:

The Color Guard, from the Sartell American Legion, was ready to line up for the Sartell Summerfest Parade by 8:30 AM on June 14th. Only one Boy Scout showed, thanks Sam, to carry flags. To carry the 5th flag a Girl Scout, Mikey Tidd, volunteered. The CMDR will send a Thank You not and a check to the Girl Scout Troop 601, for Mikey’s services.
The Legion’s Flag event at the Country Manor Nursing Home went very well. There was a good turnout by Legion members. It was noted that NO local paper published any report or pictures of the even.

New Business:

As part of the Memorial Day Celebration, the Legion will send the Waite Park American Legion, Post 428 Rifle Squad, a check for $75 for their participation.
The Finance Officer, Nick D. presented next years budget based on what we spent last year. A separate form was handed out. The CMDR made a motion to increase the pay scale of all officers by $100. After much discussion, John D. 2nd the motion and the motion passed. A second motion to include the 1st Vice CMDR and the Membership Chairman as a paid position(s) was tabled until the next meeting. The By-laws will be checked to see if this is permitted. The budget for 2008-2009 was motioned by Snuffy and 2nd. by Chuck H. Approved.
Only the cost of using the room at Paul’s’ Café’ will be covered by the Legion.

Ralph J. mentioned he gave away all the remaining seat cushions at the Sartell Summerfest parade.

The Legion will be taking down all flags on Saturday, July 12. Please be at the storage shed at 9:00 to help
